Questions about discovering and reading Bible verses

How does this random Bible verse generator work?

Each homepage visit draws from 1,000 passages. In the reader, Curated verses offers 300 passages across 20 themes. Whole Bible draws from available verses across 66 books, with book and testament filters. New draws avoid the passage just shown when another choice is available. References include the full range when a passage contains more than one verse.

Is today's verse the same on every visit?

Each visit gives you a fresh passage, including when you refresh or return from the reader. Today's date follows your local time zone and updates at midnight. Once a passage is displayed, switching between WEB and KJV keeps the same reference. A shared link opens that exact passage and translation.

Can I read the same verse in WEB and KJV?

Yes. Choose World English Bible (WEB) or King James Version (KJV) to read the selected passage in either translation. All 1,000 homepage passages are available in both. Some verse numbers differ in Whole Bible mode; if a passage is unavailable in the other edition, your current reading stays visible with an explanation.

How can I read a verse in context?

Select Read this passage on the homepage to enter the reader, then choose Read in context to see the surrounding verses. Your selected passage is highlighted, and a full-chapter link lets you continue reading. The topic guides also include notes about the biblical context of their selected passages.

Can I look up a specific Bible verse?

Yes. In the reader, open Find a specific verse and enter a reference such as John 3:16 or Psalm 23:1–3. Common English book abbreviations are supported, along with ranges of up to 20 verses within one chapter. You can then read the passage in context, save it or share it.

Can I share a Bible verse as an image?

Open a passage in the reader and select Share. Choose from eight backgrounds and a Square or Story format. The image includes the complete passage, its reference and translation, without a brand signature. Download the PNG or use Share image on supported browsers. If a passage is too long to fit legibly, share its link.

Can I turn a verse into a wallpaper?

Yes. In the reader, select Make a wallpaper to carry the current passage and translation into Bible Verse Wallpapers. Choose a design, personalize it and download a PNG for your phone or desktop. Square and Story formats are also available in the editor.

Where are my saved verses kept?

Your favorites and recent readings stay in this browser, with no account required. They are also available in the wallpaper editor in this same browser. They do not sync across browsers or devices, and clearing browser data removes them. If browser storage is unavailable, your collection remains usable for the current visit.
